After several years of planning,
the Capitol Hill Business
Improvement District (BID) became
reality on June 16, 2009 when the
Oklahoma City Council adopted and
ratified the assessment roll for the
Capitol Hill Business Improvement
District, Oklahoma City
Improvement and Special Services
Assessment District Number 5. A
BID is a method of tax assessment
where property owners in a given
area assess themselves to oversee the
maintenance and promotion of a
business district.
Capitol Hill BID assessments are
being used for maintaining the flower
beds at each of the main
intersections, trash removal, and
promotion. Promotional activities
will include event production,
billboards, newspapers ads and bus
benches. A BID Advisory Board
made up of property owners will be
appointed by the Capitol Hill Main
Street Board of Directors. The
purpose of this Advisory Board will
be oversight of the BID funds and to
insure the money is being used as
promised.
The Capitol Hill Main Street
Board of Directors wishes to express
its appreciation to all property owners
for supporting the Business
Improvement District. Through these
efforts, an increased amount of
people will visit Capitol Hill and
property values will increase.
If you have questions about the
BID, please call Jeri at the Capitol
Hill Main Street office,

Plaza to become
Cornerstone
of Historic Capitol Hill

The Capitol Hill Board of Directors is
pleased to publish the conceptual drawing
the Capitol Hill Plaza. The Plaza will be on
the southeast corner of Commerce and
South Robinson. The property was donated
to Capitol Hill Main Street by the Whitbeck
family several years ago. The Whitbeck’s
dream was to see a plaza on the property, a
special place for families and co-workers to
gather, and events to be held. The Board
believes the Plaza will be such a friendly and
warm gathering place that it will be used
several days a week for different urposes
and it will become the cornerstone for
Historic Capitol Hill.
Engraved brick pavers are being
sold to be placed in the Plaza. Pavers come
in 4 x 8, 8 x 8, 12 x 12 inches. Corporate
size pavers are available and will have special
placement in the Plaza. There are other
ways to show support by sponsoring he
landscaping, the gazebo or the stage, to
name a few.
